Project description:

Working with private sector in Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan on registration of FEZs’ entities; providing advisory services to entrepreneurs on types of existing FEZs, on business registration procedure, taxation and customs procedures.

TA Consult provided assertive assistance in working out suggestions on setting up free economic zones in Tajikistan. With this aim in view, TA Consult experts carried through research into business sector development, analyzed best international practices, assessed feasibilities of those latter in Tajikistan, offered different types of free economic zones, including their funding. All papers drafted by TA Consult have been thoroughly studied by BEI Project experts and at Tajikistan’s Ministry for Economic Development and Trade. Many suggestions have been successfully approved. Collectively, TA Consult contributed to: 1) development of the draft law on free economic zones in Tajikistan (was approved on May 17, 2004); 2) regulations on free economic zones (“Ishkoshim”, “Pyandj”, “Dangara”, “Sugd”); 3) monitoring of efficiency of and proposals on improvement of activities in those latter.

TA Consult’s experts cooperated with state agencies such as ministries of economic development and trade, ministries for investment and cooperation with foreign investors, tax authorities, customs etc.
