Project description:

The key objective of the Assignment was to help Bank Vozrozhdenie implement and maintain the overall sound strategies for lending to MSEs in the new branches ensuring sustainability of MSE lending operations and high portfolio quality.

The tasks included:

  • Introduce the microlending program within two new regional branches;
  • Train expert managers and support specialists in charge of all stages of credit process (customers’ attraction, financial and economic analysis, etc.) according to the existing methodology, including basic seminars and on-the-job training;
  • Train branch management and Credit Committees' members on credit analysis and decision making principles and control according to the existing methodology;
  • Monitor the lending process on all stages in the designated branches;
  • Select heads of microlending departments on the branch level;
  • Supervise the loan officers/expert managers on the daily basis during the Assignment;
  • Analyse/evaluate the microfinance lending results on regular basis and make suggestions for adjustment of the lending policy/methodology;
  • Expand and develop sales channels for MSE clients segments;
  • Exercise control for compliance with the credit policy and procedures;
  • Achieve target indicators at the branches where the consultants are assigned to, according to business plan;
  • Ensure sustainability of technical assistance measures and integration of recommendations into the MSE policies and procedures of the Company.

Achievements:

  • Microlending programme is established in two new branches;
  • Necessary management, credit staff are selected and trained for efficient microlending operations in selected branches (6 number of LOs were trained on financial analysis and client acquisition, 6 branch management staff were trained on decision making principles on loans);
  • Train-the-trainer programme and the internal MSE-lending knowledge replication facility is in place.
